The online retailer eMAG becomes the new main shareholder of Sameday Courier, after buying an 80% stake in the company, according to an announcement from Sameday. As a result of the transaction, Lucian Baltaru, CEO Sameday Courier, owns 20% of the shares, and eMAG 80%, Octavian Bădescu selling the shareholding owned in the company.
“The courier market has entered the era of rapid consolidation and growth, where the needs of customers have diversified and specialized a great deal. We have gained a lot of visibility and have grown rapidly in recent years, bringing new delivery services to the market. Further, we needed a partner who could help us manage this rapid development. In addition to the new delivery options for online, we will continue to develop services for other industries such as banking, medical, media & advertising, postal, ”said Lucian Baltaru, CEO and shareholder Sameday Courier.
Sameday Courier will continue its evolution as an independent brand and will continue to develop courier services. “It is an opportune moment in the market and the company can grow rapidly with a significant investment. We had several offers that we considered together with Lucian to find the right partner to take the company to the next level. With eMAG we immediately resonated on two levels: they have the operational know-how that will develop Sameday and the pro-client approach that we have been acquiring since the beginning, ”said Octavian Bădescu, founder of Sameday Courier”.
